R1's Strategic Guidance service provides each client with "holistic" and custom-tailored
advice which takes into account each individual’s strengths and weaknesses, as well as
their professional interests and ultimate goals.
After evaluating each client it accepts, R1 will work closely with
them to identify a number of graduate schools which meet their specific needs and interests.
This will lead to the development of an appropriate "Application Portfolio" for every
client.
Upon determining which graduate schools an applicant will target, R1 will then help its clients
determine the optimal timing for their application to those programs with a view toward maximizing
their chances for admission.
Application Portfolios will be fine-tuned and adjusted over time in the event that a client
begins their application process without first having earned competitive test scores. This scenario
is quite common among applicants.
The Strategic Guidance service will enable clients to remain in close contact with R1 via
e-mail and to ask questions pertaining to their application strategy. (Note: Questions relating
to essays and applications are part of R1's Essay Counseling service).
E-mail-based communication is convenient because it allows clients to refer to written records
of their questions and R1's responses at their convenience, and as many times as they like.
Consequently, clients can be certain of what action to take and avoid the types of misunderstandings
that often occur when Counselors give verbal instructions in English.
No question asked by accepted clients will be considered too small and, in almost all cases,
client inquiries will be answered within 24-48 hours. R1 clients will enjoy access to comprehensive
information on the Essay and Interview components of the admissions process that will help them
to formulate optimal application strategies.
