I first met Mr. Round in February 2019. At the time, I had just obtained the required TOEFL and GMAT scores and sought his support for essay and interview preparation. Over the four months from then until June, when I ultimately secured admission to LBS, he worked with me devotedly on strategy formulation, essay counseling, and interview training.
As I was living in Hong Kong, I never had the opportunity to meet Mr. Round face-to-face, but this posed no obstacle at all. Our Skype meetings were always conducted with video, so I could clearly see his expressions, and his email responses were consistently prompt, eliminating any real need for in-person meetings. Since Mr. Round is based in Canada, there is a time difference with East Asia. Some may view this as a concern, but I actually found it to be an advantage, as it allowed us to schedule meetings early in the morning or late at night.
My impressions of each of Round One’s services are as follows.
When I began counseling with Mr. Round, I only had fragmented information about a few schools, including LBS. By carefully listening to my needs, Mr. Round proposed several additional MBA programs to broaden my application portfolio. As a result, I was able to prepare backup plans in advance in case I was not admitted to my top choice, which allowed me to proceed with the application process with peace of mind.
Mr. Round possesses exceptional counseling skills that enable him to craft essays that are both highly competitive and fully aligned with the applicant’s intentions. Discussions with him were always engaging and helped bring my points of differentiation into sharp focus. Identifying my strengths at this stage also proved extremely useful later during interview preparation. In addition, as essay deadlines approached, he adjusted the schedule flexibly, which allowed me to continue refining my content right up until the final moment.
Round One offers multiple types of interview training. I first completed several Type A training sessions, reviewed the evaluation reports to identify my habits, and then refined my responses through Type B training. For developing the “killer questions” that are often key to interview success, I first prepared my own drafts and then revised them through Type C training.
Although I was not admitted to every school I applied to, there is no doubt that receiving an offer from one of the top schools, LBS, was entirely due to the sharp yet warm guidance of Mr. Round and Ms. Round. Throughout the entire process, I was able to navigate the MBA application journey with minimal stress. Thank you very much.
