This track is appropriate for:

  • Students and families considering boarding school or selective high school programs
  • Applicants navigating undergraduate admissions
  • Candidates preparing for graduate or post-graduate programs
  • International applicants balancing cross-border educational planning

Common Academic Scenarios

Academic decisions rarely present themselves as simple, linear choices. Common situations include:

  • Deciding when to apply versus waiting to strengthen preparation
  • Balancing academic performance, testing, extracurriculars, and timing
  • Positioning international or non-standard backgrounds effectively

How Advisory Support Applies:

Strategic Guidance (foundation)

Strategic Guidance frames academic decisions over time—clarifying what to pursue, in what order, and when particular actions make sense in light of long-term goals.

Executional Support (downstream)

Where appropriate, Executional Support, such as Essay Counseling and Interview Training, supports disciplined communication within that strategic framework.

Executional Support is never offered in isolation and is always tailored to the individual and the academic context under consideration.

What R1 Evaluates

Advisory engagement in the Academic Track is selective. In reviewing applications, R1 evaluates:

  • Academic readiness and trajectory
  • Fit with the academic context being considered
  • The applicant’s ability to benefit from reflective, advisory engagement

This evaluation is intended to ensure productive and meaningful advisory work.

Fit and Eligibility

R1 works best with individuals who value preparation, honest feedback, and long-term perspective. Advisory work requires openness to candid guidance and a willingness to think beyond short-term outcomes.

R1 works exclusively with clients living and working outside of Canada. R1 is not available to support residents of Canada.
