Round One Rocks!

I have been living in the United States for 14 years, and while I have no difficulty working in English, I did not feel confident about the MBA application process. Even native MBA applicants aiming for top schools often hire consultants to help with their essays. It was at that point that I came across the Round One Admissions Consulting website and immediately decided to reach out.

I vividly remember feeling relieved and reassured

In my very first Skype session, I spent about an hour speaking with Mr. Round (the older brother), discussing my background, goals, and aspirations. It felt less like a standard MBA consultation and more like life coaching—not only about the MBA itself, but also about my direction after earning the degree. After that session, I vividly remember feeling relieved and reassured, knowing that I had found siblings who would support me wholeheartedly in achieving my goals, allowing me to focus fully on the application process.

Admitted to Northwestern University’s Executive MBA program

Soon after, I began working with Ms. Emma Round on my CV and essays, including “Why MBA?” and “Why should a business school admit you?” I submitted my drafts, and Emma returned them heavily marked up in red. In the end, I was admitted to Northwestern University’s Executive MBA program (which allows students to continue working while completing the MBA). As I write this, I am preparing for a marketing exam scheduled for the day after tomorrow. I now find myself reading HBS case studies on flights, which honestly surprises even me.

How I "accidentally" won my company's Diversity Award

Around the time I was writing my application essays, my company opened nominations for a diversity award. One section of the essay I had written with Emma described in detail how I had contributed to diversity initiatives within my organization, so I decided to apply. Unfortunately, I accidentally submitted my MBA application essay as-is—complete with the business school’s name included. Mortified, I withdrew my nomination immediately. However, the reviewers were apparently impressed by the essay, and I was informed that I had passed the first round. My company employs 80,000 people worldwide, and to my amazement, I ultimately won the diversity award. I received a trophy from the CEO, had a promotional video produced, and it turned into quite a celebration. Thanks to the essays crafted with Round One, I achieved outstanding results both at work and in my MBA journey—truly killing two birds with one stone.

My recommendation

To those considering applying for an MBA, I strongly recommend walking through one of life’s major crossroads together with the Round siblings.
