The reason I chose Round One as my essay counselor for my LL.M. applications was that colleagues at my company who had previously used the firm spoke very highly of its services. I myself was able to gain admission to multiple top schools, and I am convinced that choosing Round One was the right decision.
Because the majority of LL.M. programs do not include interviews as part of the admissions process, it is no exaggeration to say that the quality of the essays largely determines the outcome. Given that most competing Japanese applicants were young attorneys, I was initially concerned about whether I could truly compete as someone in my thirties, a non-lawyer, and a corporate-sponsored applicant.
However, as I worked through the essay counseling process with Mr. Round, I was able to develop a clear perspective on which aspects of my professional achievements should be emphasized in order to appeal to U.S. legal academics and practitioners, and those initial concerns gradually faded.
In addition, throughout each stage of the essay-writing process—narrowing down topics, refining each theme, and selecting appropriate English expressions—I received clear and prompt guidance from Mr. Round, which enabled me to produce essays that I found highly satisfying.
One of the defining characteristics of Round One’s essay counseling is its flexibility in responding to clients’ needs. Due to family circumstances, I needed to complete all of my applications by November, and Mr. Round accommodated this requirement by accelerating the process—at times reviewing essays for four schools in parallel. Without this level of support, I do not believe it would have been possible to submit my applications according to my original plan.
Compared with MBA applicants, the number of corporate-sponsored LL.M. candidates is relatively small, and the application process can easily become a lonely endeavor. Being able to work side by side with Round One throughout the process was therefore extremely reassuring.
