When I was selected as a company-sponsored candidate for overseas study, I was working in a planning division, and it happened to coincide with the formulation of my company’s new mid-term management plan. While I was not in a position to complain, this meant that I was forced to prepare for applications under extremely demanding circumstances. It was physically and mentally exhausting, but thanks to Mr. Round’s constant support throughout the application process, I was ultimately able to secure admission to my desired graduate school.
The main services I received from Mr. Round were as follows.
(In other words, everything except TOEFL and GMAT preparation. This makes it clear how fully I relied on him for all non-test-related aspects.)
In particular, I believe the following points highlight what makes Round One outstanding.
Serving as a pace-maker so that the schedule could be executed in a planned manner. When work and test preparation (TOEFL and GMAT) are both demanding, it is difficult to proactively manage schedules and tasks—especially when this is a first-time experience and one does not even know where to begin. Precisely because Round One provides comprehensive support, they are able to manage tasks organically and efficiently with a clear view of the overall timeline. For example, when working on item 2), résumé preparation, I was required to reflect on my past work experience, which later proved highly effective during item 4), essay development.
Every task was handled carefully and efficiently. All feedback on essays and interview sessions was provided in written form, making it easy to review and reflect afterward. In essay writing, as long as I could provide solid content ideas, Mr. Round would stay with the editing process through to the very end, adjusting the text to fit word limits. He kept track of all the essays I had written in the past and would suggest effective ways to reuse content across different essays. In this way, he worked efficiently without unnecessarily dragging out the process.
He was genuinely supportive of applicants. Due to company circumstances, I needed to request an extension of my enrollment deadline after receiving admission offers, and Mr. Round kindly advised me on how to communicate with the schools in that situation. He drafted email messages that carefully took into account both my personal circumstances and my company’s situation. Thanks to this, I believe I was able to negotiate the enrollment extension smoothly.
When considering a total partner for the MBA application process, I strongly recommend including Round One among your options.
