Mr. Round supported me with essay and interview preparation for the two-month period from early May to the end of June 2018. Although it was a short timeframe, the support he provided was extremely thorough. After enrollment, I did not have much time, but having recently graduated, I wanted to take this opportunity to once again express my gratitude by sharing my experience.
Due to company circumstances, I applied only to the London Business School Executive MBA (hereafter, EMBA), which allows weekend attendance. During the two months from application preparation through interviews, we held sessions twice a week and also communicated by email almost every day.
Regarding essays, I believe the initial session was particularly important. After explaining my experience and strengths (past), my future goals, why an EMBA was necessary to achieve those goals, and why LBS, Mr. Round asked insightful questions that helped me deepen my thinking and build my personal story. This became the foundation for all subsequent essay work.
There was also an essay where I had to choose one of two questions. Thanks to Mr. Round’s logical explanation of which question to select and why, I was able to proceed without hesitation and with a strong sense of conviction. On my own, I would not have known which option was better and would likely have wasted time deliberating.
For interviews, practicing across multiple formats—Type A, B, and C—helped me build confidence. The interview training included rapid and precise feedback, which I believe significantly improved my interview skills. I also prepared questions for interviewers together with Mr. Round and asked from among those prepared during the actual interview. I believe the constructive exchange that followed was one of the factors contributing to my admission.
In addition, the interview included a presentation component, for which I received feedback multiple times in advance. During this process, Mr. Round suggested topics that would appeal to Western interviewers, which I incorporated into my presentation. In the actual interview, the interviewers showed strong interest in that topic, asked follow-up questions, and the discussion became quite lively.
Beyond these areas, Mr. Round also handled many detailed aspects of the application process with speed and care. Inspired by Round One’s professional approach, I was able to stay highly motivated throughout the application process. I truly believe that without Round One, admission within just two months would not have been possible. Thank you very much.
