Overview

Admitted school: London Business School

Counselor: Emma Round

My journey

I was nominated by my company in June as a candidate for company-sponsored study in the LBS–Sloan Programme. It took more than a year from that point, but I was finally able to receive my offer of admission.

Because I was living in London, I prepared for the TOEFL and GMAT on my own. However, I was unable to achieve sufficiently strong scores, and as a result, my application became heavily dependent on the essays and interviews.

With recommendations from senior colleagues, I chose Round One as my partner for the essay and interview process. To be honest, I had neither the time nor the information to thoroughly compare counselors, so I selected Round One almost unconditionally—but I am 100% satisfied with that decision. I apologize that I cannot offer comparisons with other counselors, but I am confident in stating that Round One is more than capable of helping applicants gain admission to top business schools such as LBS.

Keys to success

Based on my experience, I believe the keys to success are as follows. I hope these points will be helpful:

  1. First, you must think seriously and push yourself to the limit (this is something only you can do).

  1. Find a counselor who will engage with you at the same level of intensity as your own effort (Round One is unquestionably such a counselor).

  1. Approach the business school application process with confidence.

R1 rewards hard work and passion

Accordingly, if your own level of commitment is low, Round One may not be very effective. They will not do for you what applicants themselves must do.

On the other hand, when you bring strong motivation and conviction to the process, they respond with equal enthusiasm and professionalism.

Persevere

Balancing study with work and family responsibilities is undoubtedly challenging, but I sincerely encourage you to persevere in pursuit of your dreams.
