Around the time I was writing my application essays, my company opened nominations for a diversity award. One section of the essay I had written with Emma described in detail how I had contributed to diversity initiatives within my organization, so I decided to apply. Unfortunately, I accidentally submitted my MBA application essay as-is—complete with the business school’s name included. Mortified, I withdrew my nomination immediately. However, the reviewers were apparently impressed by the essay, and I was informed that I had passed the first round. My company employs 80,000 people worldwide, and to my amazement, I ultimately won the diversity award. I received a trophy from the CEO, had a promotional video produced, and it turned into quite a celebration. Thanks to the essays crafted with Round One, I achieved outstanding results both at work and in my MBA journey—truly killing two birds with one stone.
